08/08/2020 (France) - Demonstrators from the Gilets Noirs are set to gather in Mesnil Amelot (Seine-et-Marne department; Ile-de-France region) on Saturday, August 8. Reportedly, participants will gather at 15:00 (local time) outside the Administrative Retention Centre to protest an arrest on July 19 of a fellow Gilets Noirs member who is being held at the center.
Associated localized disruptions and a heightened security presence are likely in the vicinity of any protest site.
Context
The Gilets Noirs, or black vests, are a group of undocumented migrants in the France, with a membership of between 1000 and 1500. The group's main goal is to uphold France's national motto of liberty, equality and fraternity, and this usually entails carrying out significant demonstrations, including in the capital Paris.
Administrative Retention Centre's house those who do not have the right to reside in France, often migrants and asylum seekers, and are held in such center's until their eventual deportation.

Those in the area are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, anticipate a heightened security presence, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
