Hostage situation ends with no casualties in Le Havre August 6

08/06/2020 (France) - The security incident in Le Havre (Seine-Maritime department; Normandy region) on Thursday, August 6, ended before 23:00 (local time) after a gunman who took six hostages at the BRED-Banque Populaire branch on Boulevard de Strasbourg at approximately 17:00 surrendered to the police. According to local media reports, no shots were fired and no casualties were reported.
Due to the heightened security presence in the area, residual disruption is expected in the vicinity of the incident over the coming hours.

Individuals are advised to avoid the vicinity of the incident until security forces have confirmed it is safe to return, monitor the situation, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
