Multiple Suspects Arrested following Attack on Police Patrol in Ouvea

09/19/2019 (New Caledonia) - According to local media reports on Tuesday, 17 September, six men have been arrested on the Island of Ouvea charged with attacking a patrol of gendarmes and injuring two on Monday, 16 September. The group reportedly attacked the gendarmes at a roadblock, throwing stones and setting the officers' vehicle on fire. The group was dispersed when off duty officers arrived at the scene. The suspects are to be tried later this week.

In-country personnel are advised to report any suspicious persons, items or activity. Members should monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any security operations in their particular area and heed any directives issued by police and local authorities.
