09/18/2019 (Singapore) - International news outlets have reported on Wednesday, 18 September, that the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) readings from the haze currently sitting over Singapore have reached 'unhealthy' levels for the second consecutive day in a row. At 1300hrs (0500 UTC), the PSI reached readings of 112 in the northern and central regions, while in the south 128 was recorded. According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), members of the public should minimise time spent outdoors when possible. Government ministries have reminded healthcare institutions, schools and employers to take anti-haze measures, such as having air purifiers, to combat the health risks associated with the haze.

Those in Singapore should monitor local media sources for further information and heed any directives issued by the authorities. If necessary, members should remain indoors and acquire facemasks to lessen the effect of the haze.
