US State Department Urges Citizens to Exercise Increased Caution Following Attacks

09/18/2019 (Saudi Arabia) - The US State Department, expanded its existing 'Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution' travel advisory on its 1-4 Travel Advisory Level scale, on Wednesday, 18 September, urging US citizens to exercise increased caution when travelling to Saudi Arabia following recent attacks. According to the update, the expanded advisory is due to terrorism and the threat of missile and drone attacks on civilian targets. The US Government reports that it has limited ability to provide emergency services to US citizens in Qatif in the Eastern Province and its suburbs, including Awamiyah. Furthermore, a 'Level 4: Do Not Travel' advisory remains within 50 miles (80km) of the border with Yemen due to terrorism and armed conflict in the region.
