09/18/2019 (Afghanistan) - Unconfirmed social media feeds are emerging on Wednesday, 18 September, stating that an explosion has occurred in Nangarhar, Jalalabad, injuring at least seven people. Reports also state that the blast, which occurred near the Electronic National Identity Cards Department (e-NIC) in PD3, was followed by an attack by gunmen. Further news is awaited.

Members should avoid the area and follow any instructions issued by the local authorities. Afghanistan remains an extremely high-risk operational environment, and deployments should only be undertaken with the strictest possible security risk management procedures in place. Members should maintain a low profile and use a vetted security provider that offers close protection and emergency response services. Minimise time spent in the vicinity of places of worship, security checkpoints, security headquarters, and government buildings as these are among the primary targets for militant attacks.
