Climate Change Demonstration Scheduled in Brussels for 20 September

09/17/2019 (Belgium) - Local media sources report that a climate change protest is scheduled to take place in Brussels on Friday, 20 September. Environmental activists will gather at around 1330hrs (1130 UTC) at Brussels-North railway station. Protesters are calling on the states who signed the Paris Agreement in 2015, to commit to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions. A heightened security presence and associated overland disruption in the vicinity of the protest is also anticipated, on the day of the protest.
Members are advised to avoid any demonstrations due to the security risk that they pose. Any large crowds should be avoided and strong situational awareness should be maintained at all times. Travellers are also encouraged to monitor local news and media for further information relating to the protests.
