Multiple Fatalities Reported following IED Blast in Farah Province

09/17/2019 (Afghanistan) - According to local media sources, at least five civilians were killed when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) in Farah province on Sunday, 15 September. The incident reportedly occurred when a roadside bomb exploded near the city of Farah. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast thus far, although Taliban attacks are frequent in the region.

Members in Farah province are advised to monitor local media sources for further updates on the incident and should heed any directives issued by local authorities. Members should be aware that Afghanistan remains an extremely high-risk operational environment, and deployments should only be undertaken with the strictest possible security procedures and journey management protocols in place.
