Emerging Reports of IED Blasts Near Presidential Campaign Gathering in Parwan Province

09/17/2019 (Afghanistan) - According to emerging media reports on Tuesday, 17 September, two suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blasts have been reported near President Ghani's election campaign gathering in Parwan province. Unconfirmed reports state that the explosions were due to a magnetic bomb attached to two vehicles. There has yet to be reports of casualties in association with the incident. Further information is awaited.

Members should be aware that Afghanistan remains an extremely high-risk operational environment, and deployments should only be undertaken with the strictest possible security procedures and journey management protocols in place.
