09/17/2019 (Congo (Kinshasa)) - Local media sources have reported that the Commitment for Citizenship and Development (ECIDE) opposition party has scheduled a march in Kinshasa for Thursday, 19 September. The march will begin at ECIDE's headquarters on Triomphal street, Kasa-Vubu district, from which participants will head towards Saint Joseph de Montage church in Kalumu district. The march is being held in commemoration of opposition party members killed during protests on 19 September 2016.

Members are advised to avoid any large crowds and protests due to the potential for violent crowd behaviour and heavy-handed police crowd dispersal measures. Travellers are further advised to review overland travel arrangements in light of potential disruptions resulting from the heightened security presence.
