09/17/2019 (South Africa) - Local media outlets report that as of 1400hrs (1200 UTC) on Tuesday, 17 September, the Menlyn Maine Shopping Centre remains closed as bomb technicians search the premises after a man claimed to have planted bombs inside the building. The man has since been arrested after demanding R10m (£545,000) while inside an Absa bank. No injuries have been reported in relation to the incident. Further information is awaited.
