09/16/2019 (Indonesia) - Local media outlets on Monday, 16 September, report of an ongoing demonstration of approximately 800 people in the Yahukimo Regency, Papua Province. Hundreds of additional security officers have been dispatched to quell the unrest, which is in response to the government's lack of handling of racist attacks in the area. The additional security personnel were dispatched following the government's denial of the necessary permissions to hold the demonstration.

Members travelling to Papua and other unstable areas are advised to operate under strict security management protocols and should maintain a high level of vigilance. Any travel should be conducted in liaison with local security officials, particularly in remote areas. Contingency measures should be continually reviewed and updated to ensure that they remain commensurate with the local threat environment.
