Unrest Reported in areas of Sindh Province Following Blasphemy Accusation

09/16/2019 (Pakistan) - According to local media sources on Monday, 16 September, a crowd in Sindh province ransacked various temples and other areas of worship following a Hindu principal accused of blasphemy. The violence erupted in the area when a student accused the Hindu principal of making derogatory comments about the Muslim Prophet Mohammed. The principal has since been taken into protective custody and police are investigating the alleged blasphemy and the rioters.

Members throughout the country should avoid the vicinity of any demonstrations in order to lessen the chances of being affected by incidental violence and police operations. Members should monitor local media sources for further information on planned and spontaneous protests and heed any directives issued by the authorities.
