09/16/2019 (India) - Regional media outlets report that around 45,000 people were evacuated on Sunday, 15 September, from the flood-affected districts of Madhya Pradesh after prolonged heavy rainfall. The evacuees have been transferred to 150 relief camps in various districts away from the flooded areas, some of which have seen 10inches (25cm) of rain in the past 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of extremely heavy rainfall throughout Monday, 16 September, for many districts in Madhya Pradesh.

Members in the aforementioned area should monitor local media and weather sources in order to maintain situational awareness. Any directives issued by local authorities should be strictly adhered to, including evacuation orders. Minimise time spent in low-lying flood-prone areas and unstable slopes susceptible to landslides. Do not touch electrical equipment if it is wet or if you are standing in water. Motorists should exercise extreme caution due to likely hazardous driving conditions caused by surface water, debris and landslides.
