09/15/2019 (Iraq) - According to local media outlets, hundreds of farmers have gathered on Sunday, 15 September, to demonstrate in Al Qurna district, Basra province. Reports indicate that around 250 protesters blocked the road leading to Majnoon oil field, to demand compensation for those affected by flooding.
Members in the area are advised to avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances, incidental violence and police crowd control measures. Monitor local media for further information on the protests and associated disruption.
