09/15/2019 (Spain) - According to social media reports, an estimated 50,000 people attended a demonstration march in Bilbao on Saturday, 14 September. Protesters took to the street against the trial of 47 Basque citizens in Madrid's special court. Further associated protests cannot be ruled out in the coming week. A heightened security presence and overland disruption should be anticipated in the vicinity of demonstrations.
Members in Bilbao are advised to avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances, incidental violence and police crowd control measures. Monitor local media for further information on future protests and disruption.
