09/15/2019 (Romania) - According to media reports, railway mechanics affiliated with the CFR Calatori company will reportedly take part in a strike action from Monday, 16 September, to Sunday, 13 October. It is the Federation of Railway Carrier Unions of Romania (FSTFR) which has called for the strike to call attention to lack of investments in the sector. The FSTFR will also, in coordination with the Federation of Locomotive Mechanics and the National Railway Federation, stage protests from Monday to Thursday in Bucharest for the duration of the strike. Protesters will gather between 1000hrs and 1200hrs (0700-0900 UTC) in front of the Ministry of Transport on Mondays, in front of the Parliament on Tuesdays, in front of the Government Headquarters on Wednesdays, and at the Ministry of Finance on Thursdays.

Members intending to travel by railway are advised to confirm public transportation timetables, anticipate public transportation disruptions, increased congestion, and heightened demand for alternative forms of transport. It is further advised to avoid the vicinity of demonstrations in order to reduce the chance of being affected by unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime police crowd control measures.
