Boko Haram Militant Attack on Army Base Leaves Multiple Casualties, Far North Region

09/15/2019 (Cameroon) - According to media reports, a military base in Fotokol, Far North Region, came under attack by suspected Boko Haram militants in the early hours of Sunday, 15 September. It is believed that at least five soldiers were killed and over a dozen wounded. Further updates are awaited.
Members with operationally critical requirements in the Far North Region should conduct a thorough localised threat assessment and ensure that all travel is undertaken in coordination with local security forces and a trusted private security provider. Security and crisis management procedures should be continually reviewed and updated so as to remain commensurate with the local threat environment.
