09/14/2019 (Japan) - According to local media sources, a climate change demonstration has been planned in Shibuya, Tokyo prefecture, on Friday, 20 September. Environmental activists will gather at United Nations University at 1700hrs (0800 UTC) calling for improved climate change policies and a government action plan to tackle the environmental crisis. Similar rallies have been planned to occur globally on Friday.
Members within Tokyo are advised to avoid the vicinity of the protests and any other political gatherings in order to mitigate against unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime and potential scuffles between rival protesting groups. Monitor local media for the latest information on further protests and associated disruption.
