Fatalities Reported amid Encounter between Security Forces and Maoists in Dantewada District, Chhattisgarh State

09/14/2019 (India) - According to social media reports, at least two Maoist rebels were killed in an encounter in the Dantewada district, Chhattisgarh state, on Saturday, 14 September. Reports suggest a brief exchange of fire occurred after security forces launched a search operation in the area. Weapons were also reportedly seized during the operation.

Members in Chhattisgarh state are advised to maintain a heightened level of situational awareness and monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any security operations in the area. Furthermore, travellers should subject all overland travel to a localised threat assessment and minimise time spent in the vicinity of security forces vehicles, patrols and bases as well as government infrastructure which may be targeted in rebel attacks. Any suspicious items or activity should be immediately reported to security forces.
