09/14/2019 (Afghanistan) - Emerging reports on social media outlets state that an explosion occurred on Saturday, 14 September, in Police District 10 in Kabul. Unconfirmed reports indicate the blast occurred at a roundabout on the Airport road close to Hamid Karzai International Airport (KBL). Earlier on Saturday morning, security forces reportedly prevented an explosion after discovering and defusing an improvised explosive device (IED) placed by insurgents on Sarai Herat road in Police District 5. Further information is awaited regarding the latest explosion reports.

Afghanistan remains an extremely high-risk operational environment, and deployments should only be undertaken with the strictest possible security risk management procedures in place. Members should maintain a low profile and use a vetted security provider that offers close protection and emergency response services. Minimise time spent in the vicinity of places of worship, security checkpoints, security headquarters, and government buildings as these are among the primary targets for militant attacks.
