09/13/2019 (Indonesia) - Emerging reports from social media feeds indicate that a large crowd of protesters have gathered at the headquarters of the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in the Kuningan area of Jakarta on Friday, 13 September. It is indicated that the crowds threw bottles and other objects at the buildings and were repelled by police using tear gas when they attempted to enter the lobby. It is further reported that the crowds withdrew towards Rasuna Said road.
Members in Jakarta are advised to avoid the vicinity of the KPK headquarters until further notice. Travellers should minimise the time spent in the vicinity of any type of demonstration in order to mitigate against the risks of incidental crowd violence, opportunistic crime and heavy-handed crowd dispersal methods. Monitor local media for updates on the demonstrations and associated travel disruptions.
