09/13/2019 (Libya) - According to reports on social media, overnight airstrikes were reportedly carried out against Misrata Air College and Ghardabiya Airbase near Sirte on Friday, 13 September. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Libyan National Army (LNA) attacked these positions in retaliation to attacks by Government of National Accord (GNA) forces against Jufra airbase. It is currently contested whether the latter attacks were carried out, as local media indicates that several GNA drones were intercepted before striking targets in Jufra. There are no reports as to whether Misrata International Airport has been affected by these latest incidents.

Due to the ongoing conflict, Libya remains an extremely high-risk environment, and all non-essential travel to the country should be avoided. Members undertaking operationally critical deployments to Libya are advised to monitor local media and to liaise with local authorities in order to increase situational awareness and be aware of areas of high levels of conflict or particularly unstable zones.
