09/13/2019 (Ghana) - According to social media outlets, the Urgence Panafricaniste civil society group has called on supporters to rally in Accra on Saturday, 14 September. The civil society group intends to denounce the use of the CFA franc currency and also the perceived persisting French influence over its former colonies. Reports indicate that the protesters will gather at 0900hrs (UTC) in front of the French Embassy. A heightened security presence and localised transportation disruption are to be expected in the vicinity of the protest.

Members in Accra are advised to avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings in order to reduce the risk of exposure to unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime and heavy-handed police responses. Monitor local media for information on the protest and associated disruption, and heed all directives issued by authorities.
