09/13/2019 (Tunisia) - Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Tunisia on Sunday, 15 September. The election was originally scheduled for 17 November, after the parliamentary elections, but President Beji Caid Essebsi's death compelled the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) to reschedule it to 15 September. A heightened security presence is likely to be imposed in the vicinity of polling infrastructures as well as transportation hubs in the run-up to the election.

Members in Tunisia are advised to remain vigilant in the lead-up to the election. Avoid all protests or any other large political gatherings in order to lessen the chances of being affected by incidental violence, opportunistic crime and heavy-handed police response. Monitor local media for information regarding future protests and any election-related unrest and disruption.
