Casualties Reported following Clashes between Protesters and IDF Forces in Gaza Strip

02/18/2019 (Palestinian Territories/ West Bank and Gaza Strip) - According to local media sources, violent clashes broke out between the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and protesters east of Jabaliya on Sunday, 17 February. Rioters along the Gaza Strip border and were reportedly trying to breach the security fence and were burning tires and throwing Molokov cocktails at Israeli troops. The clashes broke out around 2100hrs (1900 UTC). Israeli troops also shelled two Hamas observation posts near the border. At least 20 people were injured; 19 Palestinians protesters and one IDF soldier.

Members in the Gaza Strip are advised to remain extremely vigilant amid the heightened tensions and ongoing unrest, immediately reporting any suspicious activity to authorities. Members in the affected areas are to minimise time spent near the border due to the threat of exposure to cross-border attacks. Members should seek to vacate the area immediately if a planned or spontaneous protest occurs in their area of operations.
