02/18/2019 (Slovak Republic) - According to local media outlets, anti-corruption protests will take place nationwide on Thursday, 21 February. The demonstrations come on the first anniversary of the controversial death of a journalist and his fiancée. Activists will reportedly gather at SNP square in Bratislava around 1700hrs (1600 UTC). Further protests will be taking place at Lower Gate in Kosice, SNP Square in Banska Bystrica, SNP Square in Partizanske, Sturovo Square in Trencin, Andreja Hlinku Square in Zilina and dozens of other cities. Transport disruption is anticipated in the vicinity of the demonstrations.

Members in-country are advised to avoid all protests and political gatherings in order to mitigate against the risk of exposure to unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime and police crowd control measures. Travellers should monitor local media for further information on demonstrations and associated transport disruption.
