02/18/2019 (India) - According to regional media sources on Monday, 18 February, at least four soldiers belonging to the Indian military, and at least one civilian, have died following a gun battle on the streets of disputed Kashmir. The firefight occurred after the Indian security forces were allegedly undergoing an operation to arrest members of a militant group, that killed 44 Indian paramilitaries in an attack last week. The incident took place in Pinglan Village in Kashmir's Pulwama District, the same location of the suicide attack on Thursday, 14 February.

Those in Pulwama District are advised to monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any further militant attacks or security operations in the region. Travellers are advised to avoid the vicinity of any active operations due to the risk of exposure to incidental violence. Maintain a heightened level of vigilance and report any suspicious items or activity to security forces immediately.
