02/18/2019 (Canada) - According to emerging media reports, rallies have been scheduled to take place at Parliament Hill, Ottawa, on Tuesday, 19 February, and Wednesday, 20 February. The protests are being held by truck drivers protesting the government's energy policies. Participants departed from Red Deer, Alberta province, in convoy on Thursday, 14 February, and are currently travelling to Ottawa. The rally on Tuesday, 19 February, is set to take place between 1100hrs and 1600hrs (1600-2100 UTC), while the protests on Wednesday, 20 February, will be held between 1000hrs and 1200hrs (1500-1700 UTC).
Members are advised to avoid any demonstrations due to the security risk that they pose. Any large crowds should be avoided and strong situational awareness should be maintained at all times. Travellers are also encouraged to monitor local news and media for further information relating to the protests.
