EU and Arab League Summit to be Held on 24 and 25 February in Sharm al-Sheikh

02/18/2019 (Egypt) - Media sources reported on Monday, 18 February, that an international summit is set to take place in in Sharm al-Sheikh, South Sinai governorate, on Sunday, 24 February, and Monday, 25 February. The EU and League of Arab States (commonly known as the Arab League) summit, which will be held at the International Congress Centre, is due to be attended by regional and European dignitaries, including President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. A visibly increased security force presence can be anticipated, as well as the establishment of checkpoints, cordons, road closures and traffic diversions.

Travellers are encouraged to monitor local media and news for further updates regarding the summit. Due to the heightened security presence and the chance of checkpoints, members should only travel using vetted services and have all of the necessary documentation in case of being stopped. Members are further advised to plan their routes according to the likely travel disruptions around Sharm al-Sheikh.
