02/18/2019 (Ukraine) - Media sources reported that gatherings commemorating the 'Euromaidan' protests will take place between Tuesday, 19 February, and Thursday, 21 February, in Kiev. The 'Euromaidan' protests took place in 2014 and led to the ousting of then-president Viktor Yanukovych. Most commemorative events are likely to be scheduled for Wednesday, 20 February - a day of commemoration for demonstrators killed in clashes with the security forces during the 'Euromaidan' protests - though rallies may also take place on surrounding days. Gatherings and marches can be expected in central Kiev, including on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square), Khreschatyk Street, Heavenly Hundred Alley and Instytutska Street.

Members are advised to avoid any demonstrations due to the security risk that they pose. Any large crowds should be avoided and strong situational awareness should be maintained at all times. Travellers are also encouraged to monitor local news and media for further information relating to the protests.
