02/18/2019 (Libya) - Media sources have reported that the 14 Tunisian workers who were kidnapped on Thursday, 14 February, in Zawiya, western Libya, were released on Sunday, 17 February. The workers are reportedly unharmed after they were abducted while travelling by bus to the oil refinery where they work. According to reports, security forces stormed the location of where the workers were being held, and while no fighting was reported, details regarding the incident remain minimal, so further information is awaited. No one has been arrested following the incident.

Due to ongoing militia operations and risk of further militant activity and kidnapping, those in Libya are advised to closely coordinate all movements with local authorities and security forces. Clients should reconsider all non-essential movement outside of secure compounds in Libya given the current instability and conflict situation, remain vigilant at all times and monitor local media sources for situational updates. Security measures and contingency plans should be continually reviewed and updated so as to remain commensurate to the local threat environment.
