Explosions Reported in the Centre of Donetsk

02/18/2019 (Ukraine) - According to emerging media reports, three explosions occurred in central Donetsk on Monday, 18 February. Two of the explosions took place near to where representatives of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe's (OSCE) Special Monitoring Mission are based. The third explosion occurred near to the residence of the head of the self-proclaimed People's Republic of Donetsk (DPR). There is unconfirmed speculation regarding why and how the explosions occurred. There are no reports of any casualties and the source of the explosions remains unknown. Investigations are ongoing.

Personnel are currently advised to reconsider all non-essential travel to eastern Ukraine in light of the ongoing conflict situation. Required deployments should only be undertaken with the strictest security procedures and journey management measures in place. Travellers should partner with a trusted security provider that offers close protection and emergency response services.
