02/17/2019 (Japan) - Demonstrators gathered in the Henoko area of Nago, Okinawa prefecture on Saturday, 16 February, to denounce terms of the planned referendum taking place on Sunday, 24 February. Reports suggest protesters gathered to denounce the relocation of the US Futenma Air Station from Ginowan City to Nago. Hundreds of protests reportedly attended similar protests earlier in the week and further protests are anticipated.

Members in the vicinity are advised to avoid all protests and political gatherings due to the risk of unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime and police crowd control measures. Members are advised to follow local media outlets for updates or news regarding unrest in the area, and further associated protests.
