02/17/2019 (Vietnam) - According to regional media sources on Sunday, 17 February, North Korean and United States aides landed in Hanoi on Saturday, 16 February, ahead of the upcoming summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, taking place on Wednesday, 27 February, and Thursday, 28 February. President Kim Jong is expected to arrive in Hanoi on Monday, 25 February, whereas President Trumps arrival has not yet been confirmed. Authorities in Hanoi said that they would dispatch 96 patrol groups in the ten days preceding the summit. City landmarks will also be put on round-the-clock police surveillance. There will be a heightened security presence in and around Hanoi and localised disruption should be expected in the build-up to and during the summit.

Travellers should anticipate potential localised travel disruption and related delays due to increased security measures in the lead-up to and during the summit and remain clear of any protests, whether planned or spontaneous, directed at the event. Monitor local media outlets for further information on events occurring in your particular area of operations and any associated disruption.
