02/16/2019 (Argentina) - According to local media sources, the Association of State Workers (ATE) union has called on supporters to stage a protest march in Buenos Aires on Monday, 18 February, to protest against any military intervention in Latin America and calling for dialogue and peace in Venezuela. The protesters are expected to gather at Plaza Italia at 1700hrs (2000 UTC) before marching to the United States Embassy located at Avenue Colombia 4300. Heightened security measures and localised disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of the protest.

Although the demonstrations are expected to remain peaceful, members in Buenos Aires are nonetheless advised to avoid the vicinity of political gatherings to limit exposure to unruly crowd behaviour and opportunistic crime. Travellers should exercise a heightened level of caution when conducting overland travel in the area due to the protests and plan alternative routes to avoid potential roadblocks.
