Fatalities and Casualties after Rioting in Anjara, Ajloun Province

02/16/2019 (Jordan) - According to media sources, at least one person was killed and three others injured during rioting overnight on Friday, 15 February through to Saturday, 16 February, in the town of Anjara, Ajloun governorate, 42 miles (67km) north of Amman. Although the exact cause of the unrest is unknown, an armed confrontation between a local resident and security force personnel reportedly sparked it. Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Al lman hospital and blocked Highway 55 with burning tyres.
Members travelling through Anjara in the coming days should remain vigilant and avoid all gatherings. Travellers are also encouraged to monitor local news and media for further information relating to the planned strike.
