Reports of Several Fatalities after IED Blast near Samarra, Saladin Governorate

02/15/2019 (Iraq) - According to national and international news outlets, at least eight paramilitary Hashd Shaabi members were killed, and seven others were injured in a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) blast near Samarra, Saladin governorate, on Thursday, 14 February. The killed and injured militiamen are affiliated with the pro-government Peace Companies. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Members are advised to expect a heightened security presence and possible security operations in the immediate term following the attack. Exercise an increased level of situational awareness and report any suspicious activity or items to security forces.
