02/15/2019 (Serbia) - Anti-government demonstrations are expected to take place in Belgrade on Saturday, 16 February. Protesters are set to gather at 1800hrs (1700 UTC) outside the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Philosophy in the latest round of protests demanding an end to political violence and greater media freedom. Past marches have proceeded to the National Assembly and the Serbian Radio and Television (RTS) headquarters. Previous demonstrations have been largely peaceful but well attended, causing localised traffic disruption. As with previous weekends, associated protests are anticipated in other cities across the country.
Members in the area are advised to avoid the vicinity of the protest in order to mitigate against opportunistic crime, unruly crowd behaviour and police crowd control measures. Personnel are further advised to monitor local traffic information services for updates on disruptions resulting from unrest.
