UDPS Rally Scheduled in Kinshasa on 15 February

02/15/2019 (Congo (Kinshasa)) - National news outlets are reporting that a major political rally is scheduled in Kinshasa by President Felix Tshisekedi's Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS) party on Friday, 15 February. Participants will gather outside the party's headquarters on 10th Street in the Limete area at 0900hrs (0800 UTC). The event is in commemoration of the party's 37th anniversary of their founding. Localised travel disruption in the vicinity of the demonstration is likely.
Members are advised to avoid any demonstrations due to the security risk that they pose. Any large crowds should be avoided and strong situational awareness should be maintained at all times. Travellers are also encouraged to monitor local news and media for further information relating to the protests.
