02/15/2019 (India) - According to local media sources, the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) has called on supporters to hold a general strike across Kashmir valley on Friday, 15 February, in response to the deadly suicide attack on a convoy in Awantipora, Pulwama district, that left over 40 police officers dead and dozens more injured. Associated protests are also likely in the near term.

Members in the area are advised to exercise increased caution and should anticipate travel disruption resulting from the strike and any associated protests. Travellers are advised to minimise time spent in the vicinity of any associated protests or demonstrations, due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances, opportunistic crime, and heavy-handed police response. Monitor local media sources for further updates on the strike and general security situation.
