Reports of Acid Attack on Train Between Bastille and Gare de Lyon Stations of Tube Line 1, 12th Arrondissement, Paris

02/15/2019 (France) - According to local media sources on Friday, 15 February, a person was injured at around 0800hrs (0700 UTC) in an acid attack on a train of Paris' metro line 1. The attack reportedly occurred between the Bastille and Gare de Lyon stations, located in the Quinze-Vingts neighbourhood, 12th arrondissement of Paris. The cause of the incident is not clear at this time and investigations have been launched in order to identify and apprehend the assailant. Initial unconfirmed reports suggest the assailant and the victim had an argument before the incident; it is not known whether they previously knew each other. The injured individual has been hospitalised and his injuries are reported to be life-threatening. Disruption resulting from the ongoing investigations may occur. Further details are awaited.
