02/15/2019 (United States) - According to local media sources on Friday, 15 February, days of rain throughout a large part of California has led to near emergency-level damaging effects. The weather system affecting the area is known as Atmospheric River, a large plume of subtropical moisture, relatively long and narrow, that carries a large amount of water which lead to immense rainfall and flooding. In the southern areas of the state, San Diego and Riverside Counties have reported numerous road closures due to rising water levels and swelling lakes and rivers. Further north in Sausalito and Sonoma Counties, landslides have been reported and have forced evacuations in the areas. Tens of thousands are still without power due to limited access by utility crews as downed trees and power lines are prevalent in many areas. According to reports, at least two people have been killed due to the storm's effects. Emergency crews have been deployed in affected areas to rescue stranded residents and perform recovery operations.

Members are advised to closely monitor local media outlets for weather-related updates and for any public announcements or advice. Motorists should exercise extreme caution due to likely hazardous driving conditions caused by surface water and floating debris.
