02/14/2019 (Jordan) - National and local news outlets are reporting that a sit-in protest has been scheduled in Amman for Thursday, 14 February. The sit-in is due to take place at the Prime Ministry building on the Fourth Circle at 1700hrs (1500 UTC). The gathering is being held to denounce the controversial income tax law that came into effect on Tuesday, 1 January, with demonstrators demanding political and economic reform. While related weekly demonstrations, which began in late November 2018, have lowered in scale since January this year, members should nonetheless be aware of the possible travel implications.

Members in Amman are advised to avoid the vicinity of any demonstrations or political gatherings in order to minimise the risk of exposure to incidental violence and other crowd-related disturbances. Monitor local media sources for information on any further protests that may occur.
