02/14/2019 (United States) - According to local media sources on Thursday, 14 February, a massive water outage is currently affecting as many as 400,000 people in Dayton and Montgomery County, Ohio. Water outages were first reported Wednesday afternoon, 13 February, and are believed to be caused by a leak in a significant line and subsequent loss of pressure. Even though a leak has been located and works to repair it are soon to be launched, local county authorities have asked the state for assistance with the water shortage and the discovery of possible other leaks. A boil water Advisory has been issued for those who use the city and county water system, and residents have been advised to store water in anticipation of further outages. Cities with their own water systems, including Oakwood, Huber heights, Vandalia, Englewood, Miamisburg and West Carrollton, are not affected by the precautionary boil water advisory. Local authorities and the Montgomery County Emergency Management are working on a plan to set up, in less than 12 hours, water distribution centers. Further details are awaited.

Members in the aforementioned areas are advised to make provision for the supply of water for the duration of the outage, to monitor local media sources for further updates and to have contingency measures in place to minimise any disruption to business continuity.
