Saudi Military Intercepts Houthi Missiles Targeting Khamis Mushait; No Casualties Reported

02/13/2019 (Saudi Arabia) - According to Saudi media outlets, Houthi militants fired two ballistic missiles at the Saudi Arabian city of Khamis Mushait in Asir province on Tuesday, 12 February. The ballistic missiles were intercepted and destroyed by a US-made PATRIOT anti-ballistic missile system. No reports of casualties have emerged. Further news is awaited.

Travellers should exercise an increased level of situational awareness and heed any directives issued by local authorities and security forces. Due to the ongoing risk of conflict spillover, those in Saudi regions bordering Yemen, particularly the Jizan, Asir and Najran regions, should continue to exercise a high degree of caution and coordinate all movements near the border with security forces and local authorities.
