02/13/2019 (Colombia) - According to local media sources, striking teachers from the Fecode teachers' union are planning to hold a protest march in Bogota on Thursday, 14 February, to demand improved healthcare services. Demonstrators are expected to gather at the intersection of Carrera 10 and Calle 82 in Bogota before marching towards the Ministry of Education. Similar protests are also planned in other urban centres around the country. Heightened security measures and travel disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of any protests.
Members are advised to avoid any demonstrations due to the security risk that they pose. Any large crowds should be avoided and strong situational awareness should be maintained at all times. Travellers are also encouraged to monitor local news and media for further information relating to the protests.
