02/13/2019 (Ukraine) - According to local media sources on Wednesday, 13 February, emergency services have warned of an increased risk of avalanches in the Carpathian Mountains due to blizzards and heavy snowfall. A Level 3 Avalanche Alert will be in place for the mountainous areas in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast and Lviv Oblast until Thursday, 14 February.

Members travelling in avalanche-prone areas should ensure that a detailed route card is supplied to a colleague, or a place of residence, so that in the event of an emergency rescue teams can optimise their search plans. Those within affected areas are advised to closely monitor weather-related developments and remain alert to any further directives issued by authorities.
