Update: Clashes Reported in Pulwama District, Jammu and Kashmir after Mysterious Blast at a School Injures Students

02/13/2019 (India) - According to local media sources, clashes erupted in Kakapora village in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Wednesday, 13 February after a mysterious blast in a school left around a dozen students injured. The explosion occurred at around 1430hrs (0900 UTC) inside a classroom of a private school known as Falai-e-Millat at Narbal. At least 12 students were reportedly injured in the blast and were taken to hospital. Police arrived on the scene to carry out an investigation to the incident, but as they arrived youths reportedly pelted them with stones. The clashes escalated and police had to resort to using tear gas to disperse the youths.

Those in Pulwama District should avoid the vicinity of the incident due to the ongoing investigation and response. Members should remain vigilant and be mindful of the tendency for spontaneous protests to erupt and result in clashes between protesters and security forces. Members should monitor local media sources for further information and heed any directives issued by the authorities.
