Multiple Dead following Fire at a Hotel in Karol Bagh, Delhi

02/12/2019 (India) - International media sources reported on Tuesday, 12 February, that at least 17 people were killed in a fire at the Arpit Palace Hotel in Karol Bahg, Delhi. Authorities attending the scene claimed that 50 people were pulled from the hotel, many of whom were severely injured and have been admitted for treatment. The incident was reported from the hotel at around 0435hrs (2305 UTC), and cooling operations were launched by firefighters at around 0800hrs (0230 UTC). According to sources, the police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the incident and are probing to see if there was any negligence on part of the hotel. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed but officials are suggesting that a short circuit may have triggered it. Investigations are ongoing.
